“One size does not fit all!”

Making learning to swim accessible so that every one can shine brightly in their own colours!

Statistics

1 in 3 children in the UK cannot swim by the time they leave school. Sadly these statistics are even more severe for children on the autistic spectrum with 91% of parents withdrawing children from swimming lessons due to a lack of understanding and accommodation of their needs.

Did you know?

Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children with autism under 14.

For those on the Autistic Spectrum the risk of drowning is 160 times higher.

Rainbow Swim aims to bridge this learning gap and make a brightly shining impact on these solemn statistics. From as early as 3 months; parents and little ones can attend group or 1:1 lessons to promote a positive and safe connection with water, right from the very start!

Parent and baby classes are inclusive to all mums, dads, grandparents and carers; any special adult that the child wishes to share their bonding experience with in the water! Making memories that last a lifetime.

Making learning to swim accessible to as many as possible from an early age is our key focus to promote water safety skills.

About us

Adele - Founder of Rainbow Swim

Mum of two neurodivergent children and elite swimmer Adele has taught swimming to adults, children and families for over 22 years, from beginner to club swimmer.

Adele’s inclusive and creative approach has evolved into a passion for child-focused, ‘guided discovery’ style learning that embraces the individuality of every learner, at all ability levels. A diagnosis is not required for Rainbow Swim; everyone is welcome!

With a BA (Hons) in the Advanced Study of Early Years, Adele incorporates her knowledge of childhood theory and the EYFS framework into the Rainbow Swim approach. Rainbow Swim lessons are flexible and responsive to individuals needs and interests; This helps to form firm foundations providing "building blocks" for learning.

You will see lots of popular children’s characters and annual themes running through Rainbow Swim lessons to actively engage children with familiar learning concepts such as space, tea parties, animals and popular children’s story books. Children learn best when they feel safe and are having lots of fun! Often children do not even realise how much swimming they are doing when they are embarking on a different adventure every week!
